Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan won the last three elections on a Congress ticket. However, with Chavan switching sides to the Bharatiya Janata Party, the election dynamics in the seat have taken a 360-degree turn. The BJP has fielded Ashok Chavan's daughter Sreejaya Chavan as a joint candidate of the ruling Mahayuti coalition with hopes of opening an account on the seat.
