Marbat is one of the motives behind burning bad customs and superstitions and welcoming good customs and ideas. Two giant idols are made, the black marbat symbolizing Putna Mavashi who came to kill Krishna and the yellow marbat protecting the people. The world famous Badgya-Marbat festival and procession can be seen only in Nagpur. Marabat Utsav is a historical heritage of Nagpur.मारबत म्हणजे वाईट रुढी- परंपरा,अंधश्रद्धेच दहन करणे आणि चांगल्या परंपरा,विचारांचे स्वागत करणे या मागचा एक उद्देश आहे. कृष्णाच्या वध करण्यासाठी आलेल्या पुतना मावशी प्रतीक काळी मारबत आणि लोकांचे रक्षण करणारी पिवळी मारबत, अशा दोन विशाल मूर्ती तयार केल्या जातात. जगभरात प्रसिद्ध झालेला बडग्या-मारबत उत्सव व मिरवणूक हा प्रकार फक्त नागपुरात बघायला मिळतो. मारबत उत्सव म्हणजे नागपूरला लाभलेला ऐतिहासिक वारसा आहे.
