A settlement dating back three thousand years has been found in Pachkhed in Yavatmal district. Pots from the time of Tathagata Gautam Buddha and Emperor Ashoka have been found. Not only this, six wells from the Satavan dynasty have been found. A team of officials from the Department of Antiquities in Nagpur has arrived and has started excavations. Excavations have been underway since March 26, 2025, at Pachkhed in Babhulgaon taluka of Yavatmal district under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Prabhas Sahu, Head of the Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology under Sant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University and Prof. Dr. Priyadarshi Khobragade, Joint Director, Nagpur University. In the excavations in the year 2025, evidence of a settlement during the Megalithic Iron Age period, dating back to 1000 BC, i.e. three thousand years ago, has been found. The houses in the Megalithic Iron Age settlement were circular in shape and made of mud. Evidence of iron from the Megalithic Iron Age period has also been found in the excavations at Pachkhed. Stoves from that period have also been found in houses from the Megalithic Iron Age period.
