Arjun Meghwal, incumbent MP and union minister, is contesting his cousin, Madan Meghwal of Congress, to retain the Bikaner seat. The two-time MP is also facing opposition from within BJP ranks. Senior BJP leader in the state Devi Singh Bhati has opposed Meghwal's candidature and has accused him of anti-party activities. Bhati has gone as far as asking the people to vote for Congress in the elections.
Bikaner is considered to be a stronghold for the BJP and Meghwal would be hoping to complete a hat-trick of wins. His cousin and Congress counterpart, Madan Meghwal, however, could prove to be an obstacle. According to the Congress candidate, it is a contest of opposing ideologies and not a familial fight.
